The new and taller Spiderbeam Heavy Duty fiberglass pole is perfect for building a wide variety of wire antennas.
A single person can easily erect the pole within a few minutes. Specially reinforced and specially developed as a result of our ongoing efforts to create even more rugged and reliable portable equipment!

Our HD versions are extremely robust poles, with significantly thicker walls (up to 2mm!) than common "fishing rods". They are manufactured using a specially reinforced winding method - several layers of fiberglass wound in alternating directions (lengthwise/crosswise) result in significant reinforcement in the lengthwise and crosswise directions. Stronger joints have also been achieved by significantly increasing the overlap between the individual tube segments.
Incidentally, all fiberglass poles can be shortened by any number of segments (simply remove the bottom and remove unneeded segments) to achieve the required length.

Spiderbeam Heavy Duty poles are ideal for building 40/80/160m wire verticals or inverted L antennas. (Lee W9OY, for example, used them to build a powerful 80/40m vertical).
They are also good for lightweight 1-element quads or delta loops for 40-10m, or dipoles for all bands, especially when fed with balanced feedline (e.g., Window-Line or true Ladder-Line) instead of heavy baluns. The construction of lightweight beams for 40 and/or 80m is feasible using 2 or more of these poles.

Due to the 14m version’s larger diameter at the bottom, wire antennas such as our Aerial-51 807 or 404 can be installed even higher on this pole than on the 12m pole.

Many customers have expressed the wish for a fiberglass pole with the same collapsed length as our 12m pole but sturdier at the top.   At a height of 12 m, this new pole has a diameter of over 17 mm (over 5/8 in.) at the top, giving it unparalleled stability at such heights. Yet it fits into the same travel bag as our 12m pole.

Whereas other fiberglass fishing rods and poles have a top segment usually as thin as a "horse whip" and therefore hardly usable for anything, the top segment of this new pole is 8mm in diameter (and 1.4mm wall thickness), the same as the 12m HD pole’s top segment.  You can use the full 14m length of the pole for a wire antennas or similar.  During our tests, we were able to attach an 80m Inverted-V dipole (made of 1mm enameled copper wire) at the very top of the mast, which is not possible with a "fishing rod" under any circumstances.

The best wire to use with this pole for most portable operations is our “PolyStealth-22” (insulated, stranded copper-weld wire).  It is thin, lightweight, yet very robust.
Spiderbeam’s 1mm Kevlar guy rope (alternative: Spiderbeam’s PVDF Monofil Line) is perfect for guying the wire antennas.  For heavier-duty applications, use our “PolyStealth-18” wire and 2mm Kevlar guy rope.

As this mast is basically an extension of the successful 12m pole (and backwards compatible) we can expect the same experiences as we had when we tested the 12m pole in December 2004 on the North Sea in wind speeds of up to 120 km/h!
We have achieved the same stability with the 14m pole in recent tests.

For installations of longer duration, we recommend using the optional clamp set for securing the pole’s segments.  We also recommend our 2 guy belts (straps) for guying and tensioning.  These absorb the wind forces perfectly and protect the fiberglass material. When braced at 2 levels and secured with clamps, this 14m HD pole can be erected outside for months, or even many years without worry.

Order now and enjoy portable operations with the largest HD pole of the new generation!

Note: All models of our fiberglass poles can be easily shortened by any number of segments. (Simply open at the bottom and remove unneeded segments). This enables you to use only the desired number of segments required to reach the desired length. For instance, you may remove (top) segments from our 18m pole, converting it into a stiffer 14.9m pole, or convert a 14m pole into a stiffer 12m pole....etc.

Also highly recommended: Our new (Heavy-Duty) “GoPak Set 2.0” with the strong part of this pole reduced to 12m.
This means that the 404-UL antenna can be attached directly to the top and, at a height of 12m, is even better than at 10m on the 12m HD poles.
