Kevlar guy rope, 1mm Ø (100m roll)

Low-stretch 2-component guy rope for our fiberglass poles.
The core is an extremely tear-resistant and low-stretch yellow Kevlar fiberrope, which is loosely embedded in a UV-resistant black PES cover fabric.
The diameter of this rope is the smallest at only around 1 mm.
Advantage 1: Being so thin, it offers little surface for the wind to attack, yet it is an extremely robust rope. It works well for the upper guy lines of the 18m, 22m  and 26m fiberglass pole.
Advantage 2: The rope has extremely low elongation.

Our Kevlar ropes consist of 2 components:
1. The smooth Kevlar core is on the inside and carries the entire load. It is not UV resistant.
2. The black fabric cover. This sheath consists of black PES fiber fabric that wraps itself tightly around the stiffer Kevlar core for protection, while remaining flexible and stretchy.
In this combination, the rope can provide its enormous strength and low stretch when exposed to sunlight and temperature fluctuations.
Unfortunately, the rope with the stiff core and the very flexible sheath is not as easy to handle as a standard braided rope made from one material. The flexible and stretchy fabric sheath may be twisted, compressed and also displaced by improper handling during assembly on the core. For this reason, the rope cannot be easily wound and unwound several times. The rope must always be laid out and rolled up carefully and straight. The open ends should always be cut and secured by heatmelting and knots so that the protective but flexible fabric sheath cannot slip off the Kevlar core at the end.
This rope is perfect for all applications where you set it up once and guy it to leave it outside permanently!
Even after years, it does not stretch more than 1% and therefore enables a permanently secure installation, better than any other rope with such a small diameter.


However, if you are looking for a rope that you can use again and again for different set-ups or if you want to roll the rope up and down regularly, then Kevlar is not the right rope for you. The fabric sheath can twist during assembly and disassembly, forming loops and knots where the stiff Kevlar core can protrude from the fabric. Although this can be avoided and straightened by careful handling, it remains stiff and impractical with frequent assembly and disassembly. The Kevlar rope should also not be run over moving pulleys or similar, as the sheathing can shift on the Kevlar core or be damaged if compressed.
For all constantly moving and rolled rope connections, we therefore recommend our 2.5mm Dyneema, which is almost as low-stretch but easier to roll. Although it is somewhat thicker and heavier, in addition to its robust, rollable characteristics, it is also stronger in terms of tensile load.

In any case, the 1mm Kevlar rope remains the classic choice for light permanent guy lines with tensile loads under 50 kg.
